Teaching Assistant Orientation

Incoming students who will be TAs need to attend the mandatory New Teaching Assistant Orientation and New International Teaching Assistant Orientation. New TAs should have been emailed the instructions for accessing the Canvas sites by The TA Project and new TAs should be reminded that they are expected to complete all the modules in the TA Orientation prior to the start of classes. Canvas sites will be active in early August.

If you are a new TA, and have not yet received information regarding the orientations, you may register and access the orientation by clicking the link below.

TA Orientation Registration

If you are a faculty or staff member and wish to view the TA Orientations, please submit your NET ID, name, and title to tapweb@grad.rutgers.edu and we will provide you with access to the orientation page.

New TAs will have an opportunity to join synchronous Q&A sessions to talk with experienced TAs during the last two weeks of August. To join these sessions, new TAs should navigate to the “Ask an Experienced TA” Sessions page on the orientation Canvas site once the site is active in early August.

These orientations, in conjunction with sessions presented by your graduate programs on discipline-specific information, will help new students and new TAs understand their new roles and responsibilities and the expectations that you have for them.
