Alison ShonkwilerAlison Shonkwiler (Literatures in English) will be teaching the course Money in American Fiction. Ms. Shonkwiler’s dissertation on Finance and the Limits of Fiction: Dreiser, DeLillo, and Abstractions of Capital in Twentieth-Century American Literature is being written under the direction of Marianne DeKoven. Her proposed course would also relate novels and other fictions of the Gilded Age to contemporary works, and consider what similarities and differences there may be in the way our fiction deals with economic issues. She is described as an incisive scholar and an outstanding teacher. |
