Margaret M. Phelan

Peggy Phelan is Ann O’Day Maples Professor in the Arts and Professor of Drama and English at Stanford University. She is the author of many widely influential, groundbreaking works in drama and performance studies. She is, in fact, the most important scholar of feminist performance studies in the world. Not only prolific, she has also been innovative, bringing film, and visual arts into the field of performance studies and expanding its reach to feminist and psychoanalytical forms of analysis.
