Excellence in Outreach and Service Award

The Excellence in Outreach and Service Award recognizes SGS graduate students who have made significant contributions to organizations outside Rutgers University.
Award Criteria
  • Sustained, extraordinary commitment to service outside of Rutgers University
  • Effective collaboration with and meaningful connection to a service group, school, non-profit, or other community organization
Eligibility Criteria
Nominees must have received doctoral or master's degrees or fulfilled all degree requirements between May 20, 2017 and May 19, 2018.
The winner of the Excellence in Outreach and Service Award will receive $500 and a commemorative plaque at our annual Awards Ceremony.
Nominations may be submitted for more than one SGS academic/merit award. However, nominees may only receive one award total.

All SGS graduate students, faculty, and staff may submit nominations for SGS Achievement & Merit Awards. Self-nominations are encouraged.

To submit a nomination, please visit our new Awards Portal, log in with your NetID and password, then follow the instructions.

The Awards Portal will close on February 22, 2018, at 11:59 PM. Please ensure that all materials--online nomination form plus required letters of recommendation--have been submitted before the deadline.

Once you enter the portal and begin the nomination process, you may upload recommender information and send recommendation letter requests to letter writers. Please send these requests as possible since recommenders must upload all materias by the February 22 submission deadline.

Additional Instructions for Nominators

  • Please note that individual graduate programs might establish earlier deadlines for internal review of Awards Portal nominations. If your graduate program has decided to adopt an earlier deadline for internal review, you will be notified by your program’s administrators.

Instructions for Graduate Directors

  • You will be notified when the Awards Portal is ready to accept Graduate Director rankings. At that time, you will be able to view all nomination packets and submit up to three finalists per award category for evaluation by SGS review committees.
