At the Dark End of the Street: Sexualized Violence, Community Mobilization, and the African American Freedom Struggle
This research enables us to see that the initiative for civil rights and human dignity came from black local communities, especially from the women in those communities, responding to race and sexual violence. Ms. McGuire’s multiple-prize-winning article on this subject has already entered the curricula at leading universities and has won her a prestigious postdoctoral fellowship at the Institute for Southern Studies.
