Maureen Carr![]() Maureen Carr received her M.F.A. from the Graduate School in 1964. She went on to get her Ph.D. from Wisconsin in 1972 and eventually settled at Pennsylvania State University, where she is Professor of Music. She was the founding director of the School of Music there and recipient of the 2005 Penn State Faculty Scholar Medal for the Arts and Humanities. Dr. Carr is an outstanding teacher and innovator and has been a devoted member of the Penn State community. She is an authority on music pedagogy in the fields of sight-singing and music dictation and author of one of the standard texts. In recent years her analytical work on Stravinsky’s neoclassical period has had a wide impact and has made her one of the leading scholars on one of the 20th century’s most important composers. |
